Vulpiano Records

Marilyn Roxie

Vulpiano Records was launched in November 2009 by synth musician Marilyn Roxie, initially as a place to house great unsigned and independent artists they had come in contact with through networking in the music blogosphere. The concept behind Vulpiano is simple: to offer quality free music. Genres we specialize in are ambient, electronic, and acoustic. All artists are linked by their spirit of independence and experimentation. We hope you enjoy and share the music. Are you a music blogger, podcaster, or film-maker looking to feature a Vulpiano track in your content non-commercially? You can utilize any of the tracks in the Vulpiano library free for streaming or download as long as you credit the artist!

Natural Snow Buildings -  The Night Country  (VULP-0054) Originally self-released and super-limited in quantity on CD, this is the official, Vulpiano Records digital release of Natural Snow Buildings’  The Night Country.  Available in FLAC or 320 kbps MP3 and includes art from the cover and insert.  The Night Country  has been one of my personal favorite recent Natural Snow Buildings releases so I am very pleased Mehdi and Solange have made it available through Vulpiano. Unsub's Perspective (VULP-0029) is this Filipino artist's first foray into music recording, described as "inspired by artists like Explosions in the Sky, Earth, Tim Hecker, Ãlafur Arnalds...a mix of a little ambient, drone doom, modern classical, slowcore...but ultimately post-rock at the core." The atmosphere flows from eerie to peaceful as a flowing river, managing to evoke elements of both industry and nature.

Hanetration's Torn Heat EP (VULP-0041) full of delightfully gauzy textures - dreamlike and at times sinister. Based in London, UK, Hanetration has crafted a work of interest to glitch, drone, and ambient fans alike with this EP. Torn Heat EP is a strong follow-up to Tenth Oar EP (self-released earlier this year), including four tracks that thematically build off of one another, from the minimal, yet adventurously engaging "Jurassic" to the closer "Flicker", functioning as a...

Bisamratta's self-titled release and their first solo offering (VULP-0039) is out now - a beautiful selection of ambient drone tracks: 1. Dissolve, 2. Rorelse av Ljus, and 3. Sky With Milk. Bisamratta (Vlad Luchansky from Russia) describes his approach: "Since age of 14 I've been keen on jazz and always been dedicated to improvisation. While studying music for myself, I've managed to play with local and foreign improvisers but I still wanted to expand myself. And then I've discovered...

Aseptic Void - Carnal (VULP-0045) is out now. Italian multi-instrumentalist Davide T, known here as Aseptic Void, has followed up their previous Vulpiano Records EP Alone with an impressive continuation of dark themes and masterful use of static, haunting spaces in their music, including silence. "The theme of the album is the flesh and abominations of the concepts of limit. A black hole of anti-identity in which to get pleasantly lost. The truth of the flesh is multifaceted."

Microscopes is the latest musical endeavor of prolific Rate Your Music artist Chris Hunter and vocalist and lyricist Fred. The cover may yield a clue to the art pop genre tag applied to it, evident in splashes throughout VULP-0017, Points of Interest, though it is more of a curious odyssey in lo-fi electro-blues. Wheeling from eerie to romantic, soothing to jarring, Points of Interest is a veritable buffet of rich textures and emotional outpourings, This is the Night and Those Summer Days being...

I am pleased to release this single track from Nick Silva. Nick was an ally of Vulpiano Records back in 2009 at the very beginning, so it is excellent to — at long last — host a release from him on the netlabel itself! “Somewhere Way Too Far” offers a brief blast of his surreal style, acoustic guitar inflected with surreal noise and ponderous lyrics. "Keep Your Eye On The Time" is the second single from Richey's upcoming ninth studio album ('Ephemeral') and is backed by the b-side "Dystonia". Following Brevyn's single release on Vulpiano Records for Netlabel Day 2018, 'Sea Cave / Indigo' comes a re-release of their delightfully summery 'Liquid Sunlight' album, complete with bonus tracks ("Drinking the Dream", "Dark Depths") and an updated track order.  From Brevyn:  Liquid Sunlight was inspired by synth/sequencer-based new age of the 80s and early 90s like Vangelis, Spencer Nilsen [mostly his work on the Sega CD Ecco The Dolphin music] & Suzanne Ciani....

Veldt (VULP-0034) is a newly released EP from Lately Kind of Yeah on Vulpiano Records. A treat for enthusiasts of chiptune and vintage video game soundtracks, Veldt cycles through stages of an imaginary video game, from the optimistic title screen (O2) to boss fights (DRACULA and P.Mantium) and the dramatic conclusion (恐怖). Lately Kind of Yeah is the solo output of Nathan Rich (Delicatessens, Why Tired, Biollante), composer of lo-fi home recordings influenced by shoegaze, post-rock,...

The music that i made for "Poder Contra Verdad" (power vs truth) documentary, directed by José Ramón Rebollada.  The documentary tells the story of the Royal Cotton Factory , a neo-classical building , avant-garde at the time, which was built in Ávila, Spain by order of Charles III . It was one of the earliest attempts to create an industrial fabric in Spain and was a source of wealth in the city over three centuries. The film focuses primarily on the last years of the building...

Bisamråtta’s latest Vulpiano release is the two track Försiktigt/Manetar EP, following up on  Bisamråtta  (2013) and  their first solo EP  (2012). “Försiktigt” is beautiful and ghostly, a William Basinski-esque loop and spiral - 21 minutes of blissful oblivion. “Manetar” is more peaceful and compact, evoking a sensation of traveling while sitting still.

Six-piece UK band Fire Island Pines' debut release Bratislava EP (VULP-0027) comes from Anton Rothschild (vocals and guitar; he previously released one of his solo albums, The Year of the Kitten, on Vulpiano Records in 2010), and "a band of Cornish indie wanderers", Andy (drums), Ben (trumpet, flugel horn, percussion), Seamus (bass, glockenspiel), Simon (guitar), and Tom (guitar, vocals). The EP contains five tracks which each serve to signal the talent the band has for weaving...

Vulpiano Records release VULP-0007, Anton Rothschild's The Year of the Kitten. An expert blend of poppy and electronic elements with a dash of melancholy from the start in title track The Year of the Kitten, Anton's newest release is one of his best and certainly an EP I am proud to have part of the catalog here. Anton, also affiliated with the consistently excellent Dainty Records (including release The Diffident, a top independent artist release of 2009 at A Future in Noise) is a master of...

A Netlabel Day 2016 Special Release Taker 51′s  Melanchordia  is comprised of three beautiful ambient-acoustic, previously unreleased tracks. Peaceful, introspective, a little haunting - the perfect treat to celebrate Netlabel Day! Taker 51 has previously released film soundtracks on Vulpiano Records as Raúl Díaz Palomar for  Maqbara  — the story of the Muslim community’s social and cultural impact in Avila, Spain in medieval times and the archeological unearthing of the Muslim...

North Hive - Immersion (VULP-0051) Immersion is a beautiful little album. It unravels slowly in its title track opener with sounds recalling nature, looping and enveloping, repetition morphing into change, and — later — voices. Spring-like and peaceful. "Immersion" fades into the meditative "Hyperborea", rippling waves of sound carrying the listener onward (and is that kittens I hear?). "Satellite" seems to depart from earth, off into space, more whirring and...

VULP-0002, the first single release from Vulpiano Records: Tiny Tide - The Smiths & The Cure, which is (you guessed it) a sort of tribute to both of those bands, with a particularly spot-on jangly guitar.

VULP-0013 is Natural Snow Buildings' first release of 2010, the free-for-download double LP The Centauri Agent! On part one, the 41 minute "Our man from Centauri" sets the stage, a cosmic, sprawling opener with themes that continue on into "The accidental remote viewer", before fizzling out into static. Part two is comprised of nine beautiful and intense tracks (particular stand-outs including "The Psychic Circle/Uchronia", "The storm of resurrection",...

Golden Grey - Awaken the Wolf (VULP-0077) I am pleased to present this exciting new instrumental electronic release on Vulpiano,  Awaken the Wolf  by Golden Grey. Falling at times somewhere between C418's Minecraft soundtrack and Ratatat’s  LP3,  and at others somewhere off in outer space, the release is introspective, calming, and a little mysterious. Bio and Background Information: Golden Grey is an electronic journey through soft bells and glitchy rhythms conveying an outcome of...

Prolific electronic artist Walt Thisney joins Vulpiano with EP 'Bhakthis'. Sentimental, alien, nocturnal instrumentals for a weird evening...or any time. About Walt Thisney: Walt Thisney selects and mixes music for the mind and body in the same quantities that emerges from encounters between the past and the present, drawing beauty of the commonplace, wiping, polishing it, giving it life again, so to produce the same effect of the original freshness and spontaneity, a mirror that transforms it...

Storm and Urge (VULP-0031) is the new EP release from Lately Kind of Yeah. These three tracks call up an atmosphere like that depicted on the cover: isolated in a clean, uncluttered room, you find yourself both comforted and unsettled. Your mind wanders and then you remember where you are again, just as the music is over. And then you begin again.

Prolific Vulpiano Records artist Richey Hackettâs new single âFlawed Above Boredâ (VULP-0025) is taken from the forthcoming album of the same name. Previously appearing on the label with a compilation, single, and album, Hackett has taken a uplifting and catchy direction quite different from the dark electronics of Void Songs.

Following the single release of the same title, VULP-0026 is Richey Hackett's eighth album Flawed Above Bored. Described by Hackett as much more stripped down than his previous release, Flawed finds Hackett rising out of the darkness of Void Songs and into lighter atmosphere even when the subject matter is heavy, with a strong sense of melody (Breakdown in Communication) and moving guitar work (Modern Paranoia, Never Gonna Be Famous). Stand-out tracks here include Modern Paranoia, Flawed Above...
